I would never trust Q on over-the-head passes. Might trust him on midrange, short targets. Maybe a number 5 receiver, but I prefer Rice and the Michigan receiver over Q myself. And in all fairness, this was one of the marks against him coming out of college, too. That's why I was so surprised that we drafted him.

I know Justin will be out there even if he’s in pain but I’m at an 8. Unfortunately, we are always anticipating worse case scenario because…well we are chargers fans. 😔

I think an OL sticking at one side makes sense for the development of that specific player, but it seems like Offensive Line is being viewed more and more as a weakest link unit, so it is probably better for the entire offensive line if Alt can play both so that they can always make sure they have their best five out there depending on who is available

Also I feel like the Chargers have always been so concerned about the back up and for what? Are the Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, etc. all constantly complaining about QB2?

I think a lot of the “sign a QB” talk is just reactionary panic. The whole fandom is going to be pissed if we blow that cap space as soon as Herbert is healthy. These are the same people who wanted to tank at the end of last season, but are now mad that Stick didn’t hard carry the team at the end of last season.

The backups listed are all a mistake. Such a shortsighted way to blow away the cap space we’ve built for a defensive name or for next year. The injury is either small enough that we’re okay with stick playing potentially 2-3 games or way too huge and the year is already in the can.

This is not plantar fasciitis which is more chronic. 2 weeks in a boot literally points to a plantar fascia sprain / strain / partial tear. Looks to me, this was done as a cautionary procedure, so the partial tear doesn't turn into a full fledged plantar fascia tear (which takes 9-12 weeks to recover from). I think Herbert will have to manage the pain all season (extra tape, insoles, steroid injections etc.). Good thing Harbaugh is building a team which is supposed to not fully depend on the QB for winning. Run game, Defense, Special teams etc. will all help. If Easton Stick plays Week 1, he will get the chance to avenge his ignominious loss to the Raiders.

It's concerning but not fatal. Go watch 2011 49rs. Alex Smith was a crappy qb. Stick is actually better. We have a better D and much better O line much better run game. I think Stick can get us through the first 3 regular season games if needed. Don't panic!

Stick did not play middle of the pack back up last year he was bottom to your bad and he has been bottom to your bad the entire time it is absurd that he is still on our team as the backup the Chargers will never win a game with him in

It blows my mind we still have stick as a backup.

I had plantar facia back in HS and it is not a serious injury however it does cause pain in the heel due to the inflamtion of the tendon pulling on your heel so i can understand why he was still prcaticing because its not a pain that is excrutiating but it does bother a bit. The boot is used to hold the foot up toward the knee to stretch the tendon and reduce the inflamtion. I was in the same boot and had to sleep in it for 2 weeks but after that it felt fine and have not had plantar facia since. This is not a serious injury like a break or spain or muscle tear. Herbert should heal up to 100% before the season starts for sure. I'm glad they are taking the precautions neccessary to not further agrivate and cause a bigger injury.

I’m losing my shit over here, I just wanted a clean start to the season. Why are all of Herbert’s injuries possible to linger for the entire season.

Simply not wearing proper shoes!!!!!!! For 55$ million per year we get this? I have had these off and on for 25 years and finally solved it by buying shoes with proper arch support and sandals with proper arch support. it is that simple.

I know this 9 days old but hope J Herbert injury is not as bad as it could be Go Chargers

A few weeks off of his foot and another week in 1:31 a boot, he’ll be fine calm down don’t let the negativity get to you because then you’re just a Fairweather fan lol go Chargers! Remember this guy endured cracked ribs, which is one of the most painful injuries you can have getting hit or tackled or the possibility of it in your head. He’s tough as they come. He’ll be fine.
