Why is there no buzz around Ja'Corey Brooks out of Louisville? Is there something I'm missing??
Honestly, first time ive heard the name. -Alex.I
@@guiltyascharged7752 deep threat on a mediocre team but he does have the size. Would be a pretty good fit for the Chargers in Day 3
There probably will be a high caliber player available at 22. Someone that could be drafted in the top 10 will drop. I prefer them picking at 22 and not trading down.
Have to see how it plays out but its possible! -Alex
If there can be a DiCaprio Bootle then there can damn well be a Cabledue!
Lol, im 50/50 on believing his name still -Alex

Cheers🍻 -Alex
I really do enjoy the show, but you guys are too in love with the so-called “advanced” stats. Juwan Johnson is a decent player, but he’ll turn 29 at the beginning of next season and has never been a significant threat during his time in New Orleans. He’s a journeyman-type player who wouldn’t provide the Chargers which much more than they had this year. This is another example of per play stats telling a different story than what common sense should tell you: he’s not an impact player. If they sign him before the draft, I’m going to be both surprised and disappointed. You condescendingly discount “counting stats,” but I’d like to know who among the all- time counting stats leaders in any category wasn’t an outstanding player. Meanwhile, your per play stats told you Mahomes was middle of the road this season.
Would you agree that positive per-play stats in a subpar situation (at minimum we can agree Herbert > Saints QBs) could mean that with a better situation (Herbert) the counting stats would go up?
@ Possibly, but I think common sense says he’s not going to suddenly turn into a difference maker. I’m not saying advanced stats can’t be illuminating, but ultimately what matters are catches, yards, and touchdowns, and Johnson has never had more than mediocre results. At 29, there’s no reason to think he’s suddenly going to take a huge jump because Justin Herbert is throwing to him. Derek Carr isn’t Herbert, but he’s a decent NFL QB and receivers have had good years with him throwing to them. Everyone agrees the offense needs weapons. Johnson isn’t a weapon. Most seem to think there’s a strong chance Loveland could be (I assume Warren will be gone by #22). I don’t think there’ll be a difference making WR at 22. Loveland might be there. That’s why I highly doubt they’d sign Johnson before the draft and decide that was going to be it at TE.
Im typically a huge "trade down," guy, but in this draft, not so much...early 20s is kind of the sweet spot. As Gavino insinuated, most teams are only going to have 16-18 1st round grades, but some teams are going to get desperate & want this position or that position & reach (vs the consensus) & drafting at 22 we should get 1 of the edge rushers, or DTs, or TEs that otherwise might be off the board.
Could be right -Alex
Man Salyer fell off hard. had an all pro rookie season, now he looks like a slug. solutions are needed in the interior. Just like the RAMS.
Salyer did not have an All Pro rookie season. He was fine.
@@guiltyascharged7752 When Slater went down he wasnt giving up sacks. it was kinda impressive.
Mike Green is my guy for round one this year but I don't think there's any way that he doesn't move way up draft boards and end up like a fringe top 10 pick
I think he'll be in that 15-20 range, but definitely trending to not being available for the chargers rn -Alex
@guiltyascharged7752 how is he expected to test at the combine?
We should also take a look at the UCLA TE who we can likely get as an UFA. He has good size and could add depth and competition.
Havent taken a look yet. Thanks for the rec! -Alex
I really see them going defensive line at 22. If Lpveland is there is questionable, but he is the only offensive guy i can see that would stop them from going defense first. They gotta get more guys in there.
An interesting last two minutes of the pod, in that regard👀 -Alex
Omarion Hampton looks so damn good! Wouldn’t be mad with him at 22. Would take him over Loveland.
I think I'd still take Loveland over him but yeah the Hampton film is very fun. Would not mind a R1 pick at all -Alex
@ I’d be happy with Loveland. But in your opinion does he look like he would be an impact player day one, or would that be Hampton? Pff has Loveland’s contested catch rate at only 22 ish percent, and his blocking around 50 percent. He looks great with an eyeball test. He can play in the NFL. J be ust worried if he’s worthy of a round one pick( as opposed to someone like Hampton, or the CB Barron, for example).
What about frickin Garret Wilson??
Is there any way this could happen??
Think that depends on what happens with QAaron -Alex
Guys please give me hope for a X WR star 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
They will add a true X, i think we're just less bullish that it's definitely Tee or DK -Alex
@ thanks Alex I appreciate the feedback. May the pick/free agency gods be with us 🙏🏼
if they don’t sign T Higgins we finna be MAD
....not saying you're definitely gonna be mad but id start preparing the anger a little lol -Alex
New priority: Sign Juwan Johnson
That's right
Arroyo at TE in round 3. Jeanty, Green or Williams at pick 22. IOL in round 2. Round 4 and 5 CB & LB.
Definitely think Arroyo had a stock up week at the senior bowl -Alex
There’s no one who can convince me that Tee Higgins is a good signing. He’s has too much of an injury history, and the price tag is too high. All that cap space can go toward building a deeper more balance roster. Though we could benefit from Tee Higgins, we don’t need him. Literally anyone would be an upgrade over what we had during that wildcard game. The team needs strength in the receiver position, but let’s not ignore that the struggling IOL and Run game added to the detriment of the passing game.
I think this is a tad exaggerative lol
Final folks not taking about splash players that will not fix our issues. Of course the o-line is first and foremost, creating better running lanes and protecting our QB twoferone. Oline oline oline and sure a big #1 WR and fresh legged RB then an edge and secondary.
So he can’t go left
? -Alex
If Mike Green is available in the first round he’s my guy if Loveland is unavailable. Wouldn’t mind trading back and get another second round pick .
Yep. Think trading back is more of an option this year maybe than it has been in yesrs past. -Alex
Keenan I need it please
⚡️⚡️
Hey it’s Ladd and his friends
New alternate name for the pod lol -Alex
Would love jalen royals day 2, gives a lot of what we need, press beater, consitent hands and won on in breakers consitently. Day 1 just go best dlineman or jahdae prolly
Certainly put on a show at the Senior Bowl! -Alex
I don’t think Juwan Johnson at his projected salary hit precludes us from taking TE. I would love to have him of another good vet so that we don’t have to reach, though.
If Warren falls, sure.
Juan Johnson signing is a no brainer imo
I agree
@ reminds me of a young gates
@@tylerschoon237sign Juan Johnson trade for garret Wilson or sign a reasonably priced receiver like slayton or Godwin, draft first round dt or edge. That to me is my favorite and most realistic splash scenario
Here's 4 - Loveland will be off the board by 22 probably so they will grab a TE like Ferguson later. Therefore I think they go D with an edge like Williams from Georgia (fingers crossed he's there) or Green, or back to the ND CB well with Morrison. Can't have enough corners.
True!-think corner need has been severely underrated by the fanbase this year. -Alex
@@DB_3112 I just don't think Morrison will be there.
I think a potential Johnson signing, at TE, would allow the team to draft Fannin in the 3rd or 4th (I don't think he's getting picked early) and use him as H-back/TE/Flex guy who's almost that DH-type you described Gieski as (Fannin is more willing to block, just not great, especially going against bigger opponents).
Haven't watched Fannin yet but will be getting to him shortly! -Alex
I want SLAYTON!!! Makes so much more sense then the rest no question marks with him only can go up stats wise. He is fast too!!! Get him and trade for miles garret/ garret Wilson!!’
We don’t need huge splash at wide receiver we just need someone to make us marginally better!!!!
Obviously drops and contested catches suck but still I’m optimistic he can improve with great qb play
Or how about Godwin and slayton!!!
Slayton not at 18 million lol
Vertical threat
Alex Katson read my mind in his EDGE takes. Derwin blitzes give us some speed rush.
Yeah, think the games down the stretch showed they need more speed on the EDGE to be able to finish plays, especially as Mack gets older. -Alex I
I know that a lot of people love our general manager and he has done some good things but if he doesn't get at least three long term ieces around Justin this off season we need to have some discussions
My feeling is that the general manager so far maybe even more valuable than Jim Harbaugh to the team. I look for a lot of surprises this year. Good luck to all of us.😊
Think youll definitely get your wish (that is long term pieces in addition to Ladd) -Alex
Bruh.
We've got WAY bigger needs to pick with our 1st pick then any CB in the draft. Jim and Roman have both mentioned that we need to get a TE over just about any other position. Then Jim's going to want to go get an IOL in the top of the draft. I've never heard them mention anything about us needing a CB. Because they're very confident about who we've got now. So I'm pretty sure that we're going to wait on maybe getting someone for the back end of the defense will be like a 6th, 7th rd pick.
I dont think its a first round need but i think they probably need a CB before that late on day 3 (also kinda depends on Fulton FA ig) -Alex
All true but you don't reach for need. They take BPA (at a posisition of need). Also taking into account positional value and positional strength of this particular draft. So, they very well may take a CB at 22.
@@markmatlock9355 I agree. In the video they said it would be in consideration not an alarming need. I guess Alan is missing that detail. No ASJ, no Fulton, and cam hart concussion scare would put us in a difficult spot. You would hope free agency fills holes as much as possible to draft best player available.
Cobee bryant 2nd or 3rd round (Chargers should trade for garret wilson) The sexual tension at bolt breakdown is crazy
The Chargers should pick best available player on pick 22, round 2 should be players in needs
Think it'll kind a hybrid of BPA and need (dependent on FA) -Alex
1st off to me trading down to get someone they want doesn't make any sense. If the guy they want , at any pick, a guy go get him ! There's no guarantee that he'll be there when it's our turn to pick. Plus as we saw last yr Joe wasn't going to trade down for nobody. As we know he traded up to make sure we got Ladd. I also think Joe will go get a high profile WR. Probably Dk,because it's not going to cost us too many picks to get him compared to Tee. Then I think if Joe hears or even thinks that someone above us is looking at either Loveland or Warren, if he's there, Joe 💯 will do what it takes to move up. We're going to need to get a top tier TE. There's not going to be any in FA that will be worth going to get. Just about every anylist who's worth their weight in Gold have been predicting that Loveland will be there at 22.
i think Loveland will be there, but I don't think it's certain. especially with a handful of teams in front of the Chargers. -Alex
I don’t know how true it was, but when Antwan Powell-Ryland left Florida, people started rumors that he punched his position coach and former Jag Mike Peterson
sure a lot of organizations will be looking into character stuff off the field in this class...including other prospects we talked about in this video. -Alex
@@guiltyascharged7752for sure. I loved him at Florida and was sad to see him go. The accusation stuff was nuts to me, but all it truly will be is rumors bc that story went away quick
Both my chargers and Gators haven’t had a DPR in a quick minute lol
Josaiah Stewart.
one of my favorite round 3 or 4 guys so far! -Alex
Think it depends on free agent signings. If we get Johnson and Gesicki or one of those two and a receiver, based on what the guys in the show discussed last night for free agents, then I'd love to see a Mykel Williams (if available) or some top tier edger rusher at 22. After that I'd go corner in the second since we have the offensive side of the ball helped in FA. But my one player is Williams or Williams adjacent depending on the board
yep free agency on the offensive side of the ball will definitely be telling before the draft. -Alex
First
what's good! -Alex
@guiltyascharged7752 sup Alex! Long time first time. :p chargers fan in Colorado reporting in
Give me one player (and one player only) that you'd like to see the Chargers draft this April -Alex
EDGE Mike Green
dj giddens [[ Insert spongebobs I NEED IT meme ]]
Jeanty! I doubt he falls, but if he does..
Abdul Carter
Jared wilson
I said getting juwaun johnson makes a ton of sense at so many stand points and it takes the need away from having to draft one in the 1st round at 22 tyler warren is most likely gone and im not in love with taking loveland that high I think loveland is good but more in the 30-50 range of the draft 22 is a little too high plus we have plenty other needs everywhere else on the team I rather get johnson solve that problem before the draft and use pick 22 on a edge, DT or cb
The contracts for the nfl are getting so out of hand its redicolous how can you build a team when qbs make 50+ m a year and now wrs are getting 30-40 m a year sa.e with cbs and edge making crazy contracts you could have 4-5 players making almost an entire salary cap its crazy the cap limit doesnt fit with what new modern cantracts are going up to its crazy every year guys are constantly breaking the record on new deals but the salary cap barely goes up to compesate that rise
As long as the cap keeps going up, the contracts will follow.
Great Show!
Thank you, fellow Steven!
I’m just gonna say… we shouldn’t pay Tee Higgins Tyreek Hill money for 13 games a year.
Johnson was a WR at Oregon not a TE.. just a large body WR
Yeah there was a conversion in the NFL
GATES !!!
🎉
I will say this: I know a lot of people are out on Quentin Johnson or aren’t talking about him at all, but I feel as though whoever the Chargers sign or trade for in terms of Receiver should help Quentin play more to his strengths and maximize his play even more. I know people don’t want to believe that but I still fully believe in Quentin Johnson and I can’t wait to see him in year 2 in this offense and hopefully succeed.
He's such a better WR3 the same way Ladd is better as WR2 i mean that's the problem though we need to spend big money on WR1 to truly elevate EVERYONE on the field. Q also blocked his azz off this season by no means should we just trade him away unless its for a higgins or garrett or metcalf
@ I 100% agree with this, I definitely believe QJ took a substantial step forward this past season compared to his rookie season. We need to give him a real chance to showcase his abilities.
I think it is reasonable to expect him to take another step forward in year 3. But he's not stopping me from upgrading at the position. Him being WR3 on the team is probably best for everyone.
The whole Godwin topic is it just for conversation purposes?? Like what year was it he and Evan’s went for like a 1000 each or 2 good seasons together but there’s a reason we’ve heard more Evan’s than Godwin. If this is the case we might as well keep Palmer. Like I dnt get this topic🤷🏽♂️. Like wasn’t the whole conversation last season is we need someone to take the top off???? Who’s that rookie that got us for 2TD in bucs game. Godwin clearly 3rd WR on his team and yall wna spend for him????
“Might as well keep Palmer” What? They’re on completely different tiers. Just because we hear about Evans more (a borderline HOFer) that doesn’t take away the fact that Godwin is one of the best WR2’s rn. And no, that rookie McMillan only had 1 TD Against us and was firmly WR3 before Godwin got hurt. We need guys that can take the top off. We also need guys that just get open. Just because we sign Godwin, doesn’t mean we can’t find the former
Godwin had 6 straight 1,000 yard seasons before he dislocated his ankle last year...
I like Tee. Shiiiiiii i love Tee, but between Jim's philosophy and all the holes that have to be plugge, I just cant see them spending 30Ms idk
Me neither honestly.
Awesome show as always! Thank you two for all your hard work, I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thank you! You too!
Do you guys think there is a WR 1 in the draft for us if so who
I don't think there's a clear-cut guy that's available at 22 just yet. At least not anyone that steps in and is WR1 ahead if McConkey
Not at 22 imo.
